Speaker and geq tab in amp block

im still trying to find my heavy rhytym tone and i have some problems first of all here is the tone that im looking for:

they are using a evh 5150 iii head with its cab with no drive pedals etc.. so i tried the same amp and im close but the main problem is its always sounds boxy. i always been a strait guy when it comes to dial tones so im only using the standart drive-bass-mid-treble-presense knobs but cant do anything about that boxy sound with these knobs alone. so i looked the speaker and the geq tabs in amp block and im wondering how you guys using these tabs ? are you usually tweaking them or leaving them alone ? and if you are using them how is your approach ? (btw im using fw17)
 
This doesn't really answer your question about the GEQ/SPKR tabs, but the tone example you posted doesn't sound too far removed from the clip that forum member RockerAlex posted in this thread:

Maybe try the "pre eq'd" IR he shares in his first post (or even ask him for the patch he used in the clip) and see if that gets you closer to the tone you are looking for. :)

Hey! Try to lower the 500hz by 1-2 db in eq tab,

I use a peq block to low cut at 100hz, hi cut around 7-8khz and scoop 2-4db at 400hz!

Unfortunately I think I saved over that patch with something I like a lot better now, but I remember it well. As always, it was a BB Pre 0 drive 10 level, mids boosted by 3-6db at 1400hz into Recto 2 Red Modern with -3 at 250hz in the GEQ page of the amp block, always set to "Smooth." Cab cuts are always 100hz and 10000hz ... I believe that is it. Although since then I have started scooping out 500hz with a Q of 1 after the Cab block which was recommended by Kevin himself (Ownhammer) to give that "tube" feel.

Feel like I'm giving away my secrets here, but at the end of the day we all own the same head so we're going to end up sounding somewhat similar. :p

İ KNEW there was something secret going on :) i tried scooping 500hz after cab block with 1Q and everything is great now thanks :)

please share more secrets about speaker and geq tabs or anything else dont hesitate :p
