Some ambient noodly tests. Only for the most curious...

Axe-Master
so my current rig is the axe fx II, plus a macbook pro. i'm using ableton on the macbook to host numerous plugins. the macbook is connected to the axe via usb and is controlled by an ipad running lemur, which i can use to turn the plugins on and off.

i was messing around with different combinations of axe fx patches and plugins today and thought i'd record some of the nicer ones. these aren't performances, they're sound tests, hence the thread title. there are an infinite number of possible combinations available to me with this setup, so i occasionally dive in and see what i can come up with.

i only post them here to perhaps tickle the imagination of my fellow like-minded ambient brothers and to show what can be possible with the axe, a laptop and some tweakery

happy to divulge more details about the setup if anyone is interested

Nice! Is Lemur still being developed ?...I haven’t run into it since I experimented with it some years ago......

i haven't seen much action from them lately. it works well and the editor also works fine (on mac), so i'm happy. i just wish they'd publish some decent tutorials on it. there's some basic stuff on youtube, but learning how to get into some of the deeper stuff has been nigh on impossible.

Bloody Nora, Sounds lovely. Get an AXE-FX III and publish your ambient packages. Got a proper 50 pound note of the Queens money for you waiting. :D

Great stuff as always Simeon!!

Can you post the syx patches?

I'd like to try to port them over to the AxeIII and see the translation.

gosh, i love 50 pound notes! keep it warm in your wallet and maybe one day it can come and live with me. i promise i'll take very good care of it!
Well its basically nothing, in the day and age of internet and everything should be "free" people dont understand and appreciate the work of artists time and money... They should be paid accordingly, in my book anyway.

You sir are a genius! These are amazing! I am in awe of what the Fractal devices can do in the hands of someone willing to experiment with available technology. Well done!

Nice!

I was perusing some factory presets in the AxeFX3 that allowed me to make some cool ambient sounds/tunes. You should get one. You'll love it!

Nice textures! You're essentially using the same rig as me (+ VG-99 in front of the Axe-Fx II here) just replace Lemur with Touchable Pro. I found Touchable Pro more suitable for my purposes but dabbled with Lemur and Touch OSC a fair bit. I was influenced to go this route by some of your earlier posts -- I got a lot of ideas from reading your posts.

The possibilities are definitely endless in VST land. What you got happening on the computer/Ableton Live side? I've had a lot of fun with the Valhalla Shimmer/Delay, Eventide H3000 Factory, NI Reaktor, Audulus and plenty of others. Ambient dreams come true...

@simeon What interface are you using? Can you use this in real time or are the effects from your plugins/Ableton being done in post?
Also, what plugins are you using?
Thanks for any info. These sound great.
