How many people swore off social media? Mainly Facebook and Instagram.

After 13 years of it, I’ve found I spend far too much time and it impacts my life far more negatively than anything else. I’m seriously considering swearing it off forever. I’ve been playing more guitar, getting things done around the house. Even when I watch tv now, I’m actually paying attention and not constantly looking at my phone. Lastly, complete strangers and undesirables had way too much a window into my life

How about y’all?

I've never found Instagram to be a problem outside of hurting my wallet (too much guitar porn).

Deleted Twitter a while back and don't miss it. Facebook I can take or leave at this point. My account is still active but I use it pretty infrequently.

I am still on Facebook but I stopped reading the newsfeed two years ago. I was constantly doom scrolling and it just wasn’t good for me. I am on several groups and I just go straight to those now.

Deleted Facebook awhile ago. Best decision ever. Instagram is great. Seems like there is an unwritten rule to not make anything political so I don’t see a bunch of arguments about stupid crap. So it’s nice. Twitter is also a cesspool now. I have it for a specific reason and don’t look at anything except a few accounts. Then it’s fine. But lots of bots always trying to scam people. Also with Twitter if you change your feed like Elon recommend you mainly only see stuff from people you follow.

4 me, managing well the ones I use means locking them down so much that they have very limited use (my few FB friends don't know why I bother). I do like to read the interest groups pages though.

I got rid of Facebook a while ago. It was cool when it was just your friends sharing ideas, events, and the happenings of their lives. The whole oversaturation of videos and memes, and the personalized echo chamber really messes with me. The algorithm is like a perfect dopamine generator that never leaves you satisfied. It pushes all the wrong buttons for me so I have to stay away.

Left over a year ago and never backslid once. I was just fed up. I am an adult with
decent coping skills and it left me feeling ill, depleted, and noxious. I feel for a younger
generation that thinks they need it and it is an essential aspect of life. It is not! What
a trap for them.

I don't miss seeing the delusional beliefs and outright stupidity on a daily basis. Not one
bit. Don't have the apps loaded on my phone, latop, or desktop.

#mentalhealthispriceless :)

I quite facebook and instagram just over a year ago and don't miss them. I also enjoy my free time and happiness quite a bit more now too.

Got off FB and IG several years ago. Don’t miss it at all. Didn’t work well with my addictive personality. Dumped Twitter a few years ago - too much negativity. Don’t miss it. You guys are stuck with me here.

My FB has been filtered enough so that I don’t see any political garbage. I still find it useful for work and neighborhood events. Instagram is something that I only use for seeing funny videos and seeing some crazy skills that people have. Again, no politics. I don’t find myself needing to be on either and I mainly use them when I have some spare time.

Got off Facebook years ago when it became a cesspool of politics and nonsense. I do miss the music groups and pages I belonged to but my mental health is far better being off the platform. I’m on Instagram but use it sparingly.

Never had an fb account, fine w that.

My daughter occasionally posts pics, of her art or other things, I look at those. Think I might have an account even, don't remember or care.

So no, I'm not sworn off sm, I'm absent by design. Exceptions are here, and Slack professionally, just that community though, I'm the only person at work who uses it.

Have FB, LinkedIn, YT, and one other guitar forum. No Insta-Twitter or other platforms. LinkedIn regularly sends me email content (will likely unsubscribe from these). My FB friends are mostly local, and my preference is to not haphazardly allow new friends of friends into my page. There are perhaps only one or two friends who are politically-skewed, and I don't engage their feed. Like some, I enjoy FB Marketplace for making informed decisions about potential purchases. Follow several gear/local buy/sell/swap pages, but am not involved in gaming. YT, about a dozen subscriptions, some of which are regularly added or deleted dependent on how often content is uploaded.
