AFIII So I borrowed an Axe fx III; fusion dance & fretless bass

Borrowed a friend's Axe fx III this holiday to try out and to do some guitar recordings for my next album. Finished up this track. It has some fusion and dance influences among others. Guitar is mostly Axe fx. Six string fretless bass is recorded direct. Hope you like it!

Track sounds awesome! What kind of fretless is it?

Thanks. It is a custom Ramsay six string fretless. I also have two Wal fretless 4 string basses which I love but I didn't use them for this track.

This sounds like the music from a video game but I’m drawing a blank on which one. Older. Nintendo era. I’ll think on it.

Cool track.

Didn't expect that comparison! :) But always good to hear what someone else hears as an influence. I never play video games so I am curious...

You should definitely buy an Axe FX III if it'll make you create music like this. That was so cool. Sounds like Allan Holdsworth having a jam with Ozric Tentacles.

I still use my Axe fx II which has lots of presets that I want to keep. It is too much trouble to remake them all. But I am thinking of getting a FM9 in the future because it is easier to lug around than Axe fx plus MFC. Then I can keep my Axe fx II in the home studio. But I am not in a hurry. The Axe fx II is still giving me plenty of fun and good sounds.

A friend and former band mate of mine is good friends with Ed Wynne from Ozric Tentacles. They are working together on a project. This friend sang two songs on my album, but he is also a drummer and synth freak.

I actually have three. Also one fretted. I bought them before they became so overpriced as they are are these days.
Check my Ozric painted guitar in the background :)

Ok WOW!!!!!
I'll take the one on the far right for a late Christmas present please :)
JK, but seriously that one is totally how I would want mine spec'd!!!!

Congrats to you for 3 SICK basses right there!!!

Glad you like it! Just curious on which parts do you hear the Crimson influences?
For example the parts starting at 0:50/2:35/3:38 remind me of KC in the 90's. Especially the bass has a lot of Tony Levin in my opinion.

Ok thanks for clarifying. I can’t deny that I love Tony Levin and King Crimson. Although I didn’t think of him in this song.
