Slayer Concert Tonight!

Going to see Slayer tonight here in Calgary.

The French band Gojira is opening for them, don't really know them at all, but looking youtube they sound pretty heavy too.

It's going to be an awesome show though because they are doing a tribute to Hanneman, and playing a lot of the older classics.

Gojira are awesome, the musical equivalent of a steamroller. Slayer was a bit of a let-down for me when I saw them live at a festival last year; the playing is impressive but I found the songs quite boring. Stayed for 20 minutes, then went home (Slayer closed the festival).

I do sincerely hope you'll enjoy it more than I did! I'm more a casual fan who happened to be somewhere they were playing, I didn't seek them out so our perceptions are probably a bit different.

About 6-7 years ago, I saw Slayer play with Arch Enemy and Lamb of God. Slayer played the entire "Reign in Blood" album as their encore - one of the most energetic performances I have ever seen.
Gojira are pretty cool, too. Very rhythmic and disorienting.
