After being mesmerized the first time I heard Joe Satriani's "Flying in a Blue Dream", I remember wondering what is that moody, melancholy, but hopeful sound he was using? I thus became newly introduced to the Lydian Mode which I personally had not heard in rock music before this, or even knew what it was.
This is my ode to that mode (sorry), though sadly missing the fluidity and magic of Joe's soloing! The intent was to create a backing track to practice and improve that side of my playing. Recorded more than a year ago, it was one of my first using the Axe Fx III so I went classic rock with some Jumped Plexi presets for the distorted parts, Fender Double Verbs for the cleans.
