Simulate tube amp behaviors

Oh by the way - if you share the preset, perhaps we could find the culprit.

Thanks
Pauly
Great idea! But.... how do I do that? I'm so new with this that I still have to ask my buddy Brian Hodshire to step me through the updates, let alone post my own. Lol! I've made the switch to use this unit so I'm in it for the long haul. :)

In Axe Edit, choose Tools, then 'Axe-Manage Presets' - from there, find the preset, click once on it, right click, and choose Export.

Okay, I'll try it. I'm assuming I have to be all online to Export it here. It may be a couple of days before I can get to it. I got ridiculous trig homework and test. First, I will review the suggestions posted here and double check Compression, Noise Gate and Amp settings = turn off Compression and Noise Gate + reduce Gain and Volume Output. :)

Thank you Pauley!

I have a busy gigging weekend, as well. It's a good dilemma to be working every weekend but it sure cuts into a lot of time. :)

Guys, please re-read the first post... everyone keeps saying noise gate, but this doesn't sound like a noise gate issue at all...

Boogie, that doesn't sound like too much gain either (although it is for some models). If I were to assume your MV is also reasonably set, and no extra compression, my next best guess would be your input trim is turned way up.

There's one in the amp block below the gain/drive, but there's another similar parameter you have to get to from the front panel that adjusts for how hot your pickups are... but I haven't touched it in forever and forgot what it's called or how to get there. Maybe someone can chime in about that?

G'morning Rotti! I don't think it's a Noise Gate or Compression, either, cuz I generally don't use them, although I will check them just to be sure. I'll check the Trim and the Gain/Drive on the amp block and see. Fyi, I use a Surface Pro all the time - at home and at my gigs. It is a full blown laptop that functions like a tablet and I have the optional keyboard attached to it. It lets me make adjustments on the fly without having to use the small front panel screen and page up/down, left/right = much, much easier. That being said, is what you mentioned about "getting to from the front panel to adjust how hot the pickups are" something that can only be done on the front panel or can I get to it using Axe-Edit? I know you mentioned that you forgot what it was called but I'll try and use my common sense on it. :) Or maybe someone will chime in on that?

Thank you again!

To be clear the Noise Gate is not a block you can add or delete. It's precedes all blocks in the signal chain. Even though you can't delete it (like a block) you can adjust it so it does nothing to you signal.

Pretty sure it's a front panel only thing... I remember all of the guitars I tested it with were feeling right between 48-55% fwiw.

G'morning and thank you, Matt. You're right on that. My MFC-101 has it on off all the time but I will check the parameters, just in case. Good looking out, my friend.

"fwiw?" That's a Fractal language I haven't discovered, yet. Lol! Ok, I will look for it and see. I haven't gotten to troubleshoot as suggested by everyone but will go through the suggestions before the weekend's gig, for sure. Thank you and lemme know what "fwiw" mean. :)

G'morning y'all! Thank you all for the suggested tips! I will definitely go through the suggestions in my troubleshooting process.

This Fractal users community is awesome! I hope to pay it forward if I see a post that I can help with.

On other non related Fractal matters and a little bit about me.... I'm a busy gigging musician in the greater Phoenix and Arizona area. I play in an awesome band touring the casino circuit, festivals, weddings, corporate events, small private parties and of course the random dive bar gigs. I also play a church gig every Sunday at a southern style Pentecostal gospel church and I fill in/sub for anyone who calls me. That being said, please feel free to ask me anything about my Fractal experience at my gigs that may possibly help you in your experience at your gigs.

Have a great day, y'all! Cheers!

The usual complaint with modelers is that they don't have enough sustain. This has to be a first.
Hello Fractal Admin sir/ma'am! No, no problem with the sustaining, lol! It's the decay after the last note that I'm looking for. I was a Mesa/Boogie TriAxis + DynaWatt 20/20 user for a better part of 15 years and tube amps have a great "life-like" response to your guitar. I usually like to let my last note ring out as the next verse or chorus comes in and with tube amps, the volume will die down while maintaining sustain to where I can get a nice controlled feedback as if the note just keeps singing. My dilemma is that it rings out but the volume doesn't die down and stay on the lead boost volume. Consequently, I have to hit preset of my rhythm volume then it feels like 9 or 10 down to 6; rather than 10, 9, 8, 7, 6. Hope to find a remedy from the suggestions here.

Thank you again! :)
