Show Us Your AX8 Rig! (post your pics)

Hey nice set up!

Whats the three button black box to the right of the AX8 - some sort of MIDI switch I assume?... and more importantly - what you using it for?

It's a custom controller I built. It has 2 rotary expression knobs up front and a silent switch in the back. I use the rotary knobs to control things like Delay Mix, Reverb Mix, Chorus speed, etc.... I used the silent switch to turn things on like Trem and Rotary when I and stepping on the switch. I had the same thing with my Axe II......worked out really well and saved a lot of space compared to having full sized Expression Pedals.

So, I finally got around to making a real board

This is the 21st century, so gone are the wooden boards and extruded metals. We laser cut our boards in acryllic glass

And of course ... iPad controlled with setlist maker

Nice acrylic board Smittefar

Also great to see that One Two is not only my guilty pleasure - and I got a kick out of your band covering Malene :)

Here is my rig at the moment. I will put it on a smaller board later and the Krank 112 will be a 412 cabinet on stage. Need some cleanup on the cables etc.... Programming using AX8 was a snap. Just need to dial in at gig volumes.

Nice! What model is that one spot switch and what do you use it for?? Thanks!

What are the dimensions of your board?
The board is cut to 720 mm by 350 mm - see the attached file for more measurements.

EDIT: In a post below, you will find an updated version of the attached file that includes the mission pedal measurements.

Malene is always a big hit with the crowd. I love OneTwo, but those are difficult songs to play. It feels like a great achievement, every time, you get it right :)

Hi -THANKS!!!.... thats really useful - thanks - are the six holes to the left - the holes to take the AX8 rubber feet/pads? Any idea what diameter holes you used?? I am looking to drill a board and need to decide how best to mount the AX8.

...or are you going to sell these boards to us Europeans!!???

I am not gonna sell anything, although it would be fairly easy to set up.

The six holes to the left are indeed for the Ax8 rubber feet. I used 20 mm diameter to be on the safe side, in case my measurements were a bit off.

Thanks! Are you planning on leaving the rubber feet on and then velcro adhering the back of the AX8 to the panel ?? Or somehow using the feet to attach it??

Also - sorry! - do you have the dimensions for the Mission pedal holes also?? Thanks!

I have left the rubber feet on, and then there is velcro on the back of the AX8. When the feet drop into the holes, the Ax8 velcro attaches to the board velcro and everything stays tight.

The holes for the mission pedal are also 20 mm diameter. Here is a drawing including the mission pedal measurements

The one spot switch is a Mission switch. I just checked their website and it seems they no longer offer it but I use it for a modification to the gain of an amp model. Either up or down depending on the patch. Really, it can be used for anything that can be utilized by a controller.

Ok, I'm probably asking this in the wrong place, but any info would help me a lot. I'm new to Fractal, just got an AX8 and I"m learning how to program/use this thing. I want to use it with both my electric and acoustic guitars, so here's the situation: I have a dual-channel preamp that I use with my acoustic because it has 2 pickups - (soundboard transducer and piezo) so this Tonebone PZ-Pre gives me a nice EQ'd blend of the signals to send FOH. It also has a send/return loop, which I use right now with a few effects (reverb, chorus, delay) - but I am selling all those individual pedals now that I have the AX8. Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to set this up? I want to have a couple patches just for the acoustic, but with my electric still left onstage and plugged into the main input, so I'm guessing the IN2/OUT2 will be used. I know this is ignorant, I've read through the manual and I know the FXLoop is going to be used here, but if someone that is really familiar with this type of setup could help me understand what the cabling needs to look like, ALONG WITH what the patch should look like in AX8-Edit, that would be MOST helpful!! Thanks guys.

Maybe not exactly the answer you're looking for (I'm not sure how you would do it like you asked), but why not just get a small A/B box and run it in front of the AX8? Then you don't have to worry about any routing weirdness, and you can still have both guitars ready to go at a moments notice.

Thanks PianoMan, I have considered an A/B box. That might be an option, but it seems like some routing options would be eliminated with that setup - ie; if I use the Send/Return of both units, it seems like it might be possible to apply the effects differently to the chain, like using a 4C method. Since I'm new with this gear, I don't know what sound advantage or disadvantage this would make, but I'd really like to understand how to use the function of the AX8 without adding another piece of potentially noisy equipment in the chain. Anyone have any other advice/input? Thank you!

I think the best advice would be to start a new thread and ask your question there. It's a good question, but as you noted, it's way off topic for this thread. It'll get more attention in its own thread than it will in this AX porn thread.
