Setting volume level in presets

Ok enough fooling around here. Anybody have some good inputs to set the volume right in relation to:

Individual presets (clean, chrunch, hard rythm, lead ect.)

I use external volume pedal. Depending on how the DB's are set in Amp block this pedal gets more or less power full/aggressive. Also the volume of the clean compared to the other presets is hard to control depending how the over volume in the rehearsal room is. Have the Atomic CLR's active and it's also depending (at least the curve of the the pedal) on how I set the master volume here.

Mu options are (as I see them):
Control volume with the Amp block (leaving all other blocks to 0DB)
or
In the output section control the volume there
or
have a boost block in all presets leaving all presets initially at the same DB output.

Maybe somebody have a step by step in setting the initial volume on a system like this. My way varies much to much and I'm loosing control from time to time.

By the Master ....

I always use the AMP Ouput level and leave all other blocks Output at 0 except when running effects in parallel. I shoot for an average dB meter reading in my room of 93dB from presets. However, you will find that clean presets "sound" louder when spl is equal. See http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/sound/loud.html

It's generally advised to use the Level parameter in the Amp block to adjust overall preset volume. Leave the other blocks' Level at 0, as those are used to compensate for on vs off if there is a level change (except the Drive block since it's like the Amp block).

The resulting number in the Amp block Level does not matter. Because things like Drive and Master volume can change the resulting volume we hear, the Level parameter is there to compensate for those changes. So I could set different presets to -13, -2 or +5 dB and they could all sound the same loudness to my ears.

And take into account what you are actually playing... I struggled with this for a bit, whether to set levels based on hardest strumming of chords vs. single-note playing... never fully got it dialed in when I was in a band. Would have it close when playing loud on my own but then have to tweak in the context of the band mix. Before I used to organize my scenes based on type of sound (clean vs distorted), but I should probably add on a layer of chords vs. single notes... so like a clean rhythm, clean lead, dirty rhythm, dirty lead, and harder crunch (or a pedal to take the crunch up a notch), and an "FX" scene for crazy delays, reverbs, phasers, flangers, etc.... That is probably my next project to reorganize my scenes around something like this and use scene controllers more to fine tune the gain settings (and output levels) in amps for each of these.

It could be fantastic if Fractal implemented an average calculation in the level parameter page after playing for, lets say 10 seconds?

Or a peak hold like in most DAWs
Peak Hold of a LUFS figure, maybe... as i understand it, sections of blank space in an audio sample, don't adversely affect an LUFS calculation, therefore just a "reset".... play.... read value from screen. Simple. Rinse, Repeat.

Peak, yes that could be one way, but I believe that the average of normal playing would be the most accurate value, since one small peak would be calculated in the average. A peak meter would just show your max level in a split second not re presentable for your playing?

Not with the LUFS calculation... its a loudness calculation that takes the dynamics into account. ;-)

I use the VU meters in the utility screen, to set things in line.
Maybe it would be helpfull during the proces of adjusting levels with Axe-Edit, to see these meters also on screen somewhere with Axe-Edit ?
Wish list ?
Just my 2 cents
good luck
