Rounded or Pointy Pick Tip? Flexy or Stiff Pick?

For me, generally - 1.5 - 2.0 with a pointy yet still slightly rounded tip.

Aye, experiment with different pick materials. Different materials tend to produce different harmonics in the sounds picked from. You will find different things and find the sound you prefer. Find the sound you hear in your head. Find YOUR sound!

and above all, have fun!

I have recently ordered a bunch of new various picks to try out and they have begun to arrive. It's like Christmas over here! :)

Dunlop Tortex 0.60mm my choice for 20+ years. One year I got some gift cards for Guitarworks here in Calgary... everything is stupid expensive there, so I spent it all and cleaned em out, buying 2000 of these.

I am actually down to like the final 50 now.

I need a tool that can refinish the tips.

I play a 25.5 scale 6 string 09-46, hard rock and classic metal / thrash.

I must be doing something wrong. Could never get into thick picks, at one point I was using .38!!!

I currently use .55 D’Addario Black Ice picks. I like the smaller form. We play fast, rhythm based mathy stuff.

I dig the Gravity Picks Sunrise Big Mini 2mm with the ellipse hole. Love the hole - great shape that keeps it between your fingers all night, even when sweaty.

I used red Jazz III picks through most of the '90s. Liked the feel/tone of the black ones better, but could spot the red ones when dropped....

Lately I switched from the orange 0.60 Star Pick turned sideways to the pointy end of the purple 0.71 Gator pick....

Depends on what I am doing, I keep a ,multitude of different types eg. material, gauge, shape, size pointy or butt end around for tracking. But, my own preference when Im playing or practicing for me or gigging (wow that seems like a lifetime ago), is Daddario Nylpro + 1.5 and/or black ice 1.5 or something from Hawk pics usually their take on the jazz xl or my own speced ones.

When you have GAS but not a lot of money on hand, buy a variety of picks to try out. It helps a little bit!

Bog Street Axe Cut series. 2mm on two sides and .6 on the rounded tip. The material they use is almost indestructible as I've been on the same pick for 3 months with very little wear. They have a central hole and recess so it stays where you put it between your fingers.
