Oh I am in shock! Such a loss! He had a daughter who was around 10, I think. After his wife and first daughter passed away in the 90s, he was trying to start his life anew.
I have no words - he has been an inspiration to me since I have been 6 years old - he lyrics and music had got me through tough times...
He will always be the best drummer and person ever in my mind.
A friend just texted me this, I didn't believe it. Just soul crushing. Probably like a lot of young males, his words spoke to me like nothing had before.
Through triumph and adversity, Neil was the consummate professional and gentleman. Part of my youth and adulthood. I would not be playing music today were it not for Rush. His impact on the band cannot be understated.
Rush’s music was with me through some difficult points in life. And their musical integrity is something I’ve always admired and loved. This one hits me very, very hard.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to see him play on every tour since Counterparts. When bands were chasing every silly trend, such as skinny ties, hairspray, grunge shirts or whatever......Rush took the best of whatever musical period they were in and made it into something more....something their own.
