Jones, 81, died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, his public relations firm said. He had been hospitalized since April 18 with fever and irregular blood pressure.

So passes a country music legend. RIP George !
 
He was one of the greatest singers ever,

My Dad (George) loved him and turned me on to him when I was a kid.
My Dad died when I was 16, he was 48.
I am now 51 and anytime I hear George Jones I still get tears in my eyes.
What a gift he was,
Maybe he and my Dad can hangout together in Honky Tonk Heaven,
That's how I am gonna think of it.

I hear ya! I had a wide range of musical influences from my parents. My mother was an artist an loved Motown, Elvis, Classical, and Big Band music. My father was a redneck and loved the old school country. His two favorites were Tom T Hall and George Jones. So suffice it to say I heard a lot of George growing up.

RIP George! You definitely made your mark...
