instead of assigning a lot of fixed buttons, have in axe fx block/modifier which can be used for x/y or even more options if you hold it or press longer etc..
in axe fx you should then have this button assigned to a modifier where you can choose what should be changed X/Y
(instead of one button for amp switch x/y, next for delayx/y, etc...)
