Recording your Axe-FX II directly with an Android device and more..

Thanks to Cliff, we received the USB firmware file for the Axe-Fx II some time ago, so we could finally add support for the Axe in our Android apps Audio Evolution Mobile and USB Audio Recorder PRO.

We asked permission if it was ok to post about it here since it is a tad commercial and he had no problems with it, so here goes!

Audio Evolution Mobile is our multitrack audio/MIDI app for Android that supports USB audio/MIDI interfaces. Android does not support USB audio recording, so we wrote a custom USB audio driver from scratch which also solves all problems that are inherent to the Android audio system (like high latency, limited bit resolution, etc.). We recently made a video of the Axe in combination with our software which might be interesting for the Android users around here. Please visit our YouTube video:

Besides USB audio, we wrote a USB MIDI driver as well, which is used in our Stage Assistant software. This video shows the app in combination with the MFC101 (and any Axe). If you want some aid in your live performances, please have look here as well:

I am not an English native speaker, so please excuse any bad English in the video! :)

Do you need both to use usb or only audio evolution mobile will work?

You can use Audio Evolution Mobile without USB, but then you can only use the device's microphone or the headset input (which is mono mic), so if you want quality recordings (and your Android device is compatible) then using USB audio is preferred.
