Recording Question -> 3D sound?

Dear all,

Trying to improve my recording quality and would really appreciate your advice on this.

I am really impressed about the professional sounding recordings people are posting without any post-processing in the DAW.

Tried experimenting today and came across the following:
I am recording via USB into Logic Pro X (48 kHz, 24 bit) using an iMac with my Suhr Modern (Aldrich PUs).

To keep things simple I recorded with a factory preset (No. 122 Mark Day’s HBE). The first take is a short riff without any additional effects in Logic and sounds very 2D. For the second take I applied Logic’s space design (Small Wet Room 0.2s) and the whole things changes…sound turns 3D…
Can somebody please explain how people achieve 3D sounding recordings without applying any additional effects in their DAW?

By the way, have test this also with my customized CAB IRs and the effect is the same.

Here are the two takes for your reference:

Looking forward to your advice.

Cheers,

John

I'm not sure why that's even a goal....
You'd print fx from the Axe but that'll box you in. So why forego processing
