Recorded from Axe Fx 2 through USB for the first time...crackily&distorted any help?

I tried recording via the USB on my A2 for the first time last night. The playback was a nasty digital distorted snap, crackle and pop. Without being in front of my PC here's the info about my set up.
Windows PC running Windows 8.1 w/8 gig ram. Intel quad core processor. PC was purchased new Dec 2014.
Using Cakewalk Sonar X3 Producer.
I have the sample rate set at 48.
I did use the front input on the PC
I have a Tascam US1800 interface that I normally use but the latency is killing me on it.
I did have the Tascam as the output device while testing this.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I know it's not much information to go on.

Can you describe how you configured this, or post a screenshot of Sonar's audio device settings?

Without any more details right now, I'd suggest disconnecting or switching off the Tascam, connecting Axe-FX Output 1 to monitors, then selecting Axe-FX ASIO as audio device and trying again.
 
Go direct via USB, get rid of the interface and use monitors or headphones to monitor. Your PC should select the Axe II as the primary audio device. I do this all the time with no issues.
