Recommendations for purchasing presets?

I have spent the last 6 months exploring factory presets and presets on Axe Exchange. I have also seen a few videos/ads of some of the preset bundles available for purchase. Would like to hear about any preset bundles that you have purchased that are a good bang for the buck and what you like best about the presets.....

Thanks in advance
Ken

I bought @fremen, however I hear good tings about others like @Moke

While I rarely use these paid priests, they are a bargain, and use creative routing that helped me learn a ton. Well worth $35.

Hi Ken:
There are lots of other preset makers for people chasing specific band/album tones or getting you good bread and butter tones for live gigs or studio recording.

Yek offers some for free/his setup - search for that thread; he is excellent.

Fremen, Simeon, Moke, Singtall, ChopTones, Edo, Silent Underground, Glen DeLaune (and I'm sure I'm inadvertently missing some names - not intentional!), offer presets catering to different styles and needs. Usually you can find info about them in the Axe-Fx Preset forum.

My own preset collection, the 700+ NakedAmps TonePack, is a bit different conceptually than other preset collections, and getting great forum reviews; it may be the next step for you. See forum thread here:

https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/the-new-austinbuddy-naked-amps-tone-pack-rules.129370/

What I set out to do is create a great, inspiring preset for every amp model in the Axe-Fx/AX8, paired with a factory cab that best fits. I did two scenes per preset. I also organized the amps, using their real-life names, into three banks: Vintage & Boutique, Moderns, and Cleans-Only. Everything is dry (unless the amp has reverb and tremolo, then I include those blocks) and in mono. You get to add your own effects. Everything is professionally leveled to come in at -12db (0 db on an equivalent analog VU meter) so there is no digital clipping and you can put your own real-world pedals in front too.

Here's a video on it; there are also lots of example SoundCloud sound clips here.

With the above, I do include a Bonus "classic Rock and Blues" preset pack of about 40 tones that are "dialed-in" sounds emulating tones from artist recordings...on Axe-Change, the free Steel String Singer from me is one from that collection.

There is some great stuff out there -- take your time, figure out your goals needs, and the forum community will help give you ideas about places to check out. Never been a better time to be a guitar player! Cheers!

Depends what youre looking for.

Specific presets artist like or diffent amp style.

Austinbudy has 700 amp style preset with good reviews.

Check out the preset exchange section on the forum. There you find singtall, fremen & moke aswell as austin

Fremens were the first ones I ever purchased long ago and I learned a lot from them in terms of making my own.

Having said that though take a look at Silent Underground as well as they do great work as well.

You beat me with a few seconds ;)

I add my vote with Gregmang , Fremen preset's were the first I got and I enjoyed them a lot but lately Silent Underground Studio has been my go to preset choice and what I like about them a lot that they can customise you whatever sound you are looking for.

Once again, it depends on if you're looking for something you can use directly/with minimal tweaking or if you simply want to see great ways to build presets. If it's the first, I HIGHLY recommend looking to see if they have a free offering or buy one preset and see if it works for your setup. Although some peoples presets sound GREAT when they are playing them, they don't translate to my system. Some peoples presets, I've been able to used directly or with very little change. Since I knew this going in, I wasn't upset with the ones that were simply learning tools for me.

I have had good luck with Moke, and Fremen. AustinBuddy has wonderful reviews too, but have not as of yet a chance to try one of his samples.

However, it wasn't until I looked at others presets and figured out what worked for me, and found that true nirvana was me creating my own, for my guitar, for my playing style.

At the price they charge (not much at all for what you get), these are all great options.

I have purchased several presets from @Moke they are excellent! He has artist/song specific presets as well as general preset packs that are well worth it. I especially recommend his Clean to Mean packs which are the Axe FX presets that he tweaked to give you 4 scenes for each preset that go from "Clean" to full on high gain "Mean". Plus by digging into his presets, you can learn a lot about the Axe FX.

Dominik Hardy (Pink Floyd, Vai, Lukather, Satriani) He should offer ALL his presets for free, sell them, or stop tempting us...

(after signing up for fret-time, when I used chrome I got some kind of weird, untrusty chrome add-on related pop up when trying to download a preset - So I used firefox & there was no issue.)

It's a PITA to download these presets. I've compiled them all here:

Some of them may need adjustments (they were made with prehistoric firmware)
