Question about stereo cab

The stereo cab has 2 pan controls and two level controls . I dont understand why there is also a balance control on the right side . Am I missing something ?

Does the stereo cab sum the inputs if I connect inputs to it from 2 different sources?

No, the stereo cab block does NOT collapse its inputs to mono. If you look in the manual, you'll see it retains the L and R separation by looking at the diagram.

However, I have no clues about the balance parameter for a stereo cab (though it makes sense for a mono cab block). I always use stereo cabs, and I alsways leave that balance control in the center. If I had to guess, I would say that it's a conventional balance control (i.e. decreases the right level as you move towards the left, and vice versa), while still retaining stereo separation.... but that's just a guess.

Balance could still be useful for A/B switching between cabs. You can't attach modifiers to the cab L/R pan controls.
