quantum, now cab backups = message timeout

Went from 18.07 to Quantum today.
Managed to get the banks and system backed up after a couple time-outs.
Backing up User Cabs, nope. Tried one at a time. Nope.

I found this, but seems like more trouble than I want to go through, and doesn't look like it would specifically help the cab backups.

For the first time, I may go backward to my earlier FW.
I have already updated Fractal Bot and Axe Edit.

Will I have to find old versions of those to work with my old 18.07?

OK, I'm finding that I can backup one cab at a time, even though the error message pops up each time.

I guess I'll keep Quantum for now. I only have a few user cabs I like.

Still like to know why it's acting up, though. Same Mac, same OS, same USB cable. Tried a different one.
 
I also cannot backup anymore (with Bot). It's been reported so hopefully will see an update in time.

this was raised a few weeks ago in the Bot forum by several people..
so far, FAS have not responded..

it looks like there are quite a few of us with this issue

AxeII mk I from late 2013.
OS 10.7.5
All the latest Bot and Edit versions following the update prompts.

With earlier FW, some occasional timeouts, but this is acting persistent and consistent.
 
I also have an issue that I experienced at least 5 times today.
I didn't backup cabs, but I moved/replaced them using Axe Manage Cabs (via Axe Edit).
After doing that, the Axe works fine about giving the processed sound, but both the wdm and the asio drivers stop responding (winamp or browsers cannot play sound and my daw cannot get input from the Axe, and it freezes).
I restart the Axe, and everything is fine until I mess with the cabs.
I also get seldom timeouts from Axe Edit.
These only happen when I do modifications on the cabs. I started after the upgrade.

Windows 10 x64, Axe Mark II, Acoustica Mixcraft(DAW).

Fractal-Bot 2.5.0

Never had a problem backing up cabs before, but I'm also getting the timeout message now.

Same config as npx here, I backed up user cabs with no problem earlier in the year with Bot 2.0.8. I updated to 2.5.0 before I updated to Quantum, since 2.0.8 crashes when it phones home and realizes it should update (I discovered this while backing up to prepare for Quantum).

My testing today:
- uninstall FB 2.5.0
- disable network interface
- install FB 2.0.8
- back up user cabs with 2.0.8. No problems!
- uninstall FB 2.0.8, install FB 2.5.0
- back up user cabs with 2.5.0. No problems! (hmm...)
- cycle power on Axe-FX, restart FB 2.5.0
- Attempt to back up user cabs again with 2.5.0 -> message timeout error!

So 2.5.0 can do the user cab backups, but only after 2.0.8 has done it and the Axe-II has not been power cycled. My guess here is that 2.5.0 is messing up somehow when it's setting up communications with the Axe-II Mk1.

Glad to see some progress being made, thanks for the detailed share of steps you have taken.. Hopefully Cliff and team can duplicate and if so they will fix it :)
