Put Some Thunk in Your Strat

Firmware 10: "Added “Thunk” control to amp block. This parameter allows adding “weight” to tones by simulating the very low-frequency interaction of a speaker cabinet with the guitar. Higher values simulate closer proximity of the guitar to the cabinet."

I haven't messed with this much until a couple of days ago. I was working on a lead patch with my Strat & tried adding Thunk to it. I'd say it does a really nice job of fattening up a single coil bridge pickup on a Strat to have more of a humbucker character when you add high values of Thunk (more than 5.0). I've also now used small values of Thunk (.5-1.0) just to warm up the Strat a little on clean patches.

Check it out.

I'm all about the thunk and the motor drive. When dialed in properly, they bring so much life to patches - especially high gain. I generally have thunk somewhere between 3-5, but with the new FW I tend to keep motor drive lower for my applications - anywhere from 1-3.
