I've recently mounted my AX8 and EV-1 on a Temple Audio board that came with a soft case. The case is great, but it only offers limited protection to the AX8, particularly the plastic knobs and the screen - one careless person tosses a hard case on top of it at a gig and who knows what damage would result.
Hard flight cases are great but very expensive and heavy, so I came up with a "guard" to protect the delicate knobs on the top of the panel - I reckon the metal foot switches should survive most abuse pretty well so don't need protection.
The guard is made from a piece of Aluminium channel 118 mm x 25 mm ( about 4 1/2" x 1") about 300-350 long, with some rubber edge strip to protect the AX8 paintwork. It fits snuggly inside the handle so it holds itself in place.
Might not work for everyone but I thought I'd share this idea.
