i've been spending a good bit of time reviewing the manual for axe-fx (probably will get the ultra).
am i correct in what i think my routings would be for this setup?
1. guitar to axe-fx front input--->output 1 (xlr) left and right to krk rockit 8 ( two active spkrs) inputs left/right. this for just jamming with the axe-fx on it's own thru the FRFR rockits.
2. guitar-->axe-fx front input--->unbalanced 1/4" output 1 --->fx return on fender supersonic combo then fender fx return to unbalanced 1/4" input 2 on axe-fx and unbalanced 1/4" output 2 on axe-fx to fender main guitar input (4 cable method) for jamming with the fender combo.
3. for recording purposes: guitar--->axe-fx front input-->digital out axe-fx xlr ---> to, say the xlr input on a m-audio fastrack recording interface--->rca outputs (left/right)from m-audio fasttrack---> krk rockit active 8 rca inputs left and right. i don't have the fastrack at present but would want an inexpensive option that will allow me to monitor from the interface while i record, using direct connections from the interface to the rockits. i record via laptop so putting in a hightech audio card will not be an option.
basically, i am trying to figure if i can setup something like the above for three different scenarios, have all the connections made and then switch back and forth between them just by having the appropriate gear powered on and the other stuff off. eg: if i'm jamming through the combo amp, i would not have the computer interface on nor the powered speakers, etc.
i'm a little bit new to this sort of rack gear and recording setup but not a complete noob to having racks, combos and/or a recording setup.
can anyone double check my hookup logic and tell me if it's flawed and if so, how to fix it or if having all those connections in place all the time would likely cause big problems...
thanks in advance.
