Proper IR length for "EQ" impulse

Hi guys
I want to correct the tone/shape of my instrument, so at the beginning of chain, just after [IN 1] block i am using EQ(s). I want to be able to do much more adjustments so i decide to grab a flat IR , reshape it in the reaper's ReaEQ and export it as a impulse then insert it after the [IN 1] as a [IR player block]

So in case for this purpose, what will be the best IR length for such thing?
I am assuming whatever length I set, the response will be always exactly the same? right?
So the shorter one will make the cpu less overloaded?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts

IR length determines how accurately an IR can alter the sound at low frequencies.
The formula for frequency resolution of a FIR filter is Fs/n. Fs (sample rate) / n (number of points).
At 48kHz a 1024 point IR has a resolution of 46.875Hz. An 8192 point IR has a resolution of 5.86Hz.

It would be simpler and far more CPU efficient to use an EQ block. The EQ block I believe uses an IIR filter - these are much lighter on CPU than FIR filters (such as the IR block).
