Preview Release - FM9 Factory Presets for Firmware 8.02

Everything sounds more balanced. I mainly use humbucker guitars and always had to tweak the factory presets cause they were too bassy and sometimes had to turn on the bright switch. I always had the feeling that the factory presets were made for single coil guitars. Now they sound way more balanced. I did expect some of them to use the dynamic irs or at least to have a version of them.

Public service announcement:
  • Turn up the volume when auditioning the factory presets. These are designed for stage volume, approximately 90-95dB. By not doing so you will be a prime victim for the dreaded Fletcher-Munson Effect.
  • The factory presets are configured to use an expression pedal connected via External 1, not directly to an internal FC pedal, to help ease the use of the presets across the three units. It might not seem logical at first but it helps in the long run. See p. 10 in the FC 6+12 Owner’s Manual for configuration information and an explanation.
Thank you for this explanation, I’ve been searching for info on this since I bought one of my favorite pieces of music gear I’ve ever owned MKII Turbo

So are you saying when auditioning in monitor headphones or other monitoring equipment these preset are set to what a preset should be set too for stage volume which is what I’m after.

More specifically I’ve always built my output volume level for my live presets so that in the output block they are trickling into the red
But on my unit they never clip the output leds
Is this the right way to go about it?

🙏🏽

I'm really enjoying going thru the presets. The only issue I have is the levels are all over the place.

Yes, i keep them just under 0dB. You can check this in the output block, but also in FM9-EDIT there is under menu-item Tools a Presets Leveling tool, which you can keep open all the time (so you don't have to select an OUT block) across all presets.
