PreSonus Studio One Pro is dead, long live Fender Studio Pro

Yay Pro Tools I know a lot of people use it and yes it is the industry standard it seems. But I don’t belive I’ll ever go down that road but never say never.
Studio Pro sounds like a decent deal for the price and I really like the perpetual license aspect so I’m kind of leaning down that avenue I don’t know if it’s good or bad that personas give it up to fender..
I’d use it for mostly guitar vocals bass drums. I’m wanting to upgrade my computer also. I have not used my Axe Fx iii to record yet but would love to. I have pre amp’s built in my mixer anlong with effects and would use it with my axe fx iii. I’d love to be able to record live and the video aspect would be nice for editing also…. The things that make you go Hmmm!

FYI, according to my SW guy, the upgrade from S1 to the Fender version does include all the content that came with the maxed out version of S1.

Thanks @Dave Merrill I think I’m going to jump in on this one and check it out I wonder if you can put it on different computers like my Windows desktop. And my laptop for when our band plays out? I figured when I call them I’ll ask and get an answer to that. Appreciate all of your information just came in from a gig this evening and just chilling out don’t feel like really messing with any of it till tomorrow.

Looks like 5 computers for the main app, but included software may have different limits.

Awesome Thanks for sharing that @Dave Merrill got my coffee and checking it out. Nice work did you jump in on that deal? If so congrats on that I think for the price it sounds like a good deal. What windows are you running thinking about looking at a new computer now.

I haven't decided about DAW purchase yet. Probably Fender though, since i know S1 best

The 2016 laptop i use for music can't run Windows 11, so I've done the dance w m$oft to keep getting security updates for Windows 10.

lol that’s funny @Dave Merrill me to widows 10 hence the new computer time I have three two TB hard drives in it lol. Still working…
Do you run into any issues with windows on your current DAW?

Will do @Dave Merrill just got in from a meeting I had to attend this evening hope too get on it soon, I have to many things going on right now. As soon as I can spend some time on it I’ll report back. The SW guy said you can run the Daw on five machines at a time and all you have to do is deactivate one and then you can run it on another machine. Really like that idea…

I have my Axe 3, and a gen 1 Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 that i haven't turned on in a long time.

I'm not sure what I'd do if i don't go Fender.

Pro Tools is the industry standard, but it's $299/yr, and leans strongly towards their own hardware, i think, haven't looked at it in a while. And in spite of being the studio professionals' choice, there used to be a significant amount of ill will towards them in the community, re bugs, unresponsiveness, tendency to force expensive software and hardware upgrades, etc. Don't know if that's still true, but industry dominators tend to that sort of behavior.

I haven't used Cubase in a very long time, but it always seemed more midi oriented than audio. Digital Performer i think is less stable and polished on Windows, which is where I've been for decades, though that future isn't set in stone, maybe. I also haven't used Reaper very much or for a long time, but when i did i found it oddly complex and counterintuitive, though I'd probably get over that with experience, and it's less expensive than other options.

You dont have to update it yearly, I finally updated this past year from the version I had since like 2019, Christmas sale usually knocks off 100 bucks of the Studio tier. I am a hobbyist, but I primarily use PT, and my only real complaint is the UI scaling I wish they would add, I do have Logic Pro, and my goal is to use it for writing and PT for recording / mixing. I more than likely wont do another PT update until they release something that I really want.

Is there an ongoing yearly fee if you're not upgrading?

No.

The perpetual license lasts for as long as you can keep it running on a computer. You will need an iLoK, but you can do the ilok cloud.. its what I do to run PT on multiple computers.

The license gives you 12 months worth of updates, and PT cloud access, you can let it lapse for however long, and re up when you think you may want some updates... but like a lot of us, once I have a stable OS and all my programs work, I dont update until I just absolutely have to.

I got a free upgrade from S1-7 bc I but within the last year. I’ve been using S1 since S2- 2014. I switched from PT and never looked back.

The Fender S1-8 pro is an excellent upgrade from 7 and the start up is faster than ever! I’m a fan and it doesn’t bother me that Fender acquired S1 but they’ve had a deal locked in to buy since 2022 anyway.

Fender didn’t do anything dramatic, instead they included more cool stuff

I’m really looking forward to installing my new Fender studio pro software. Just haven’t had time to load it up. We have some bad weather coming I think I’m going to take advantage of that and the cold weather that is coming and get it loaded and up and running..
I should be messing with but I’m procrastinating no excuses lol.

Well after a little jamming i finally got Fender Studio Pro loaded looks good definitely will be upgrading my compact lol. At least it is loaded tomorrow’s another day. Lol
