Power on/off

Saw a guitarist turning on/off the power to his entire rig using the swith on a power conditioner. Is this a common practice and safe to do? I have always turned on the Furman first, amps or modeler and then any powered speakers individually and in that order. Just kinda made me cringe when I saw him doing that at practice.

Most of power switches in devices just cut off AC power (230 or 110 VAC). The only problem could be if there will be current peak, that can blow the fuse. The only think to look at is that amp switch on tube amps is on bypass. I power on my entire rig with conditioner switch, same with IEM rig.

I do with exception of power amp, since that can cause popping in speakers and potential damage.

Start up:
everything but power amp (via power conditioner)
Then power amp (via amp power button)

Shut down:

Power amp (via amp power button)
Then everything else (via power conditioner)
