Playing through studio monitors safe?

I played my Axe-Fx II through QSC K10s when I was playing live. Now I only at home, through my recording setup (Clarett 8Pre into an iMac). I'm just using my JBL LSR 308 studio monitors. Sounds fine, maybe not as good as loud through the K10s, but okay.

But could I damage the monitors if I get it a little too loud? I don't play any louder than I'd feel it's safe to use the monitors for mixing.

it's the same risk as playing any other audio too loud. though since you are playing "live" you may hit harder than intended at some point, etc rather than recorded music that already has a limit.

still the same risk, but head's up. should be fine.

Thanks, Chris. This would seem to be self-evident, but you never know what you don't know--like your point about limiters in prerecorded music.

There is usually a built-in limiter in most of the studio monitors to prevent any damage to drivers. So, if that's the case with yours, I would say you can crank them to 100% volume without a lot of concerns.
