FM3 has 2 Pedal Jacks. If you are plugging in an expression pedal then you have 1 remaining jack left. That jack can accept 1 or 2 external switches, or 1 expression pedal.

The Fm3 pedal jacks can take 1 exp pedal or 2 switches
The Fm9 pedal jacks can take 1 exp pedal or 1 switch

Oh so the FM9 has less options from that stand point. Interesting. Wonder why they did that?

FM9 has 3 jacks. It can take 1 exp pedal and 2 switches. It doesn't support TWO switches on a single Pedal port like the FM3 via TRS connection.
