Pastorwocky

Geezerjohn

Fractal Fanatic
Digging through old documents and stumbled on this from years ago. I wrote this in a moment of inspiration. This is for those of you who mostly play in church. With sincere apologies to Lewis Carroll.

Pastorwocky

‘Twas Sundig, and the guilthy droves
Did shift and snorkel in the pews
All anxious were the boredogoves
and the heathen thundersnooze.

Beware the Pastorwock, my son!
The jaws that move, the eyes that pierce!
Beware the Guiltguilt trip, and shun
the cavernous Dollarsnatch!

He took his sermonotes in hand
Long time the attentive ear he brought
So he rested by the pulpit tree
and stood a while in thought.

And as in fending thought he stood,
The Pastorwock, with mouth of flame
came puffing through the Scripture wood
and babbled as he came!

One two! One two! And through and through
the weary ear went pluggy-ool!
He sliced and spun and with it’s tongue
he went to Sunday school.

“And hast thou slain the Pastorwock?”
Go from our midst, you heathen loon!
O friarless day! Boohoo! Boohay!
Will the deacon be speakin’ at noon?

‘Twas Sundig, and the guilthy droves
Did shift and snorkel in the pews
All anxious were the boredogoves
and the heathen thundersnooze.

Hah! "heathen thundersnooze"...describes me as a belligerent, rebellious teen "praying" in the back row during "Sundig" morning lambastings from an old time fire and brimstone style preacher, "Brother Lou". One of the best men I ever knew, but wow...that man could shout and had the loudest, most booming voice I've ever heard to this day.

I have seen a few "Brother Lous" in my days. They sure can belt it out.
