Wow. They wrote some catchy tunes, but the next Lennon and McCartney...no. That's a torch that can't be passed. The Beatles didn't so much pass a torch as much as they planted seeds and we are all still reaping what they sowed. (Nothing like changing the metaphor in the middle of the post!)

The best build their own torches. Many brilliant musicians have come along since Mozart, but none of them is Mozart. His torch was built for his hands.
