Opened for Otep last night... Axe-Fx II / AX8s in use

I'm not really sure where to post this thread... but I thought this might be a suitable place.

Pretty much everyone here knows how amazing these pieces of gear really are. I don't think I need to really gush here like I do on other forums and with people in the local scene about that aspect of things.

Last night was kind of awesome for one of my bands (Convergence - https://www.facebook.com/convergenceseattle/) though. In only our 3rd show, we were asked to open for Otep's CD release show here in Seattle. We use Fractal gear basically where ever we can - myself (bass) an Axe-Fx II, guitarist uses an AX8 and our violinist/femal vox uses an AX8. Still figuring out if our keyboardist could possibly do anything interesting with an FX8...*grin*
Originally, my intent was for me to use the AX8 and the violinist to use my Axe-Fx II. About 2 days after I got my AX8, I developed a cool two amp preset that I fell in love with, and couldn't quite replicate the same tone out of the AX8, so that changed. I still hope to get myself on an AX8 though, and leave the Axe-Fx II at home / in the studio.

Anyway, we played to a pretty packed house and it was so nice having the FAS gear. Our load in, sound check, performance, and load out were all great. Load in and load out in particular is made easy of course, especially since both AX8 rigs live on pedal boards that we just carry off stage. Then of course the benefits of just running direct to FOH, no need to really mess with cabs and mics on them. We still bring them, of course, but mostly just as backup options / personal monitor.

I did get to talk to several people before and after our set about our gear. Our sound guy, the house sound guy, Otep's sound guy, and a person from one of the other bands (I believe one of the guitarists from September Mourning) and I talked gear for a good long while. I showed them my rig and did some Q/A demo-y type stuff. I was repping FAS by wearing my FAS t shirt for the show as well :D. I wish I could've talked gear more with those folks, and others, but there just wasn't time, and I was beat by the end of it all.

Overall, I can't compliment FAS gear enough on yet another successful gig. Thank you @FractalAudio, @Admin M@ and everyone at FAS (developers, support crew, logistics folks, and everyone else). FAS gear takes my GAS away, which is great - I can focus on other areas a lot more. If I want to chase a new tone, I just need to sit down with Axe-Edit / AX8-Edit and crank it out, then I can get back to writing and practicing.

This band's third gig and we are asked to open for a National act... I have pretty good feelings that this band will be quite a ride for me, for quite some time.

I second that. I'm the guitarist in the band and the AX8 made getting a tone live so much easier. This was my first show with the AX8 (I used an Ultra up until now). I went FRFR when I got the AX8 with a Matrix GT1600FX and a custom built XiTone 2X12.

The real confirmation that things sounded way better out front was when our drummer's wife (who is not a musician) came up to me after the set and kept telling me how amazing my guitar sounded. Mission accomplished!
