One new Broadcaster, two (blues) vids and two presets

My friends Ray Carlton (luthier) and Mick Brierley (pickup winder and luthier) have built me a Broadcaster with a couple of subtle modern twists. It's a fantastic axe. To honour them I've recorded a couple of simple bluesy videos with blackface and JTM45 amps. I thought I may as well share the presets too. Sooo...

Nice guitar and tones! I love both of those pickups. What subtle modern twists did he add?

I've been experimenting with the every aspect of my strat's electronics for the past week. I think I have everything nailed down that I like now with the exception of the tone circuit(s). Do you happen to know what value cap he used on your tone circuit? Doesn't sound like the standard .047uF or .022uF. I've experimented with .033uF all the way down to 3300pF (humbucker and single coils). I'm actually favoring the .033uF for the moment. Yours sounded in that neighborhood but maybe a slightly smaller value?

Dunno if you're into this sort of thang. If not, sorry for geek'n out! Awesome sounding axe!

It's a big fat neck - one piece of maple. The frets are medium jumbos. CTS 500K pots for the volume and tone. I know Mick used big slugs and A3 for the rear pickup which measures around 10k. So you get the softness of the A3 with the openess of the 500k pots - very cool. There's a treble bleed in there too. Both caps are orange drops and the only markings I can find on the tone cap is :CDE715P200V 223J 1527 if that helps. The fretboard radius is about 9.5" and the Gotoh vintage/grooved saddles are spot-on space and intonation-wise. Aside from that, she's pretty retro and a hell of a lot of fun.

Gotcha. 223J = .022uF which is standard value for single coil tone circuits. But the 500k tone pot changes things a bit which I think is what I was hearing. I like the tonal range of the tone knob. I may have to experiment with that next. And I thought I was on my way out of this rabbit hole. :)

I've been wanting a tele style guitar for a while now and hearing yours just makes it worse. Excellent setup. Thanks for the info!
