OMG9 + Song/Section

Hi all,

While working with a customer in support, I created a variant OMG9 with a Setlist/Song layout tucked inside. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

It contains a secret door: While you're in PRESETS mode, press and hold switch footswitch 3 on the FM3 to enter SETS/SONGS mode.
(NOTE: You can still access the LOOPER from Scenes or Effects mode by holding FM3 switch 3.)

In Setlist/Song mode, the FM3 itself becomes a song picker for the current Set List:

(Note: There was no way for the center switch to ONLY display a song name, so if you tap it, it will also advance to the next song.)

While the FM3 is in Song/Section mode, the connected FC6 shows up to six sections for the current song:

To exit Setlist/Song, press and hold the NEXT SONG footswitch -- the same one you used to enter this special mode.

To load this new "OMG9-SS" setup:

1. Load the factory version of the OMG9 found in SETUP > FC Controllers > Reset
2. Use FM3 Edit Import All Layouts to import the attached file, OMG9-SS.fclayout. The image below shows where to find Import All Layouts)

Hey! This is awesome. I have an OCD stand in switch. Ive been trying to program one of the buttons for this. Is that possible?

Just upgraded to v8 firmware (no issues) and just uploaded your layout. How would I set a hold to advance to another setlist?

Hi @Ledvedder

Try this out.

Post in thread 'Question for my fm3 fly rig' https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/question-for-my-fm3-fly-rig.206696/post-2579169

I am still fine tuning it (and waiting for a feature I have been discussing with Fractal).

It's not perfect yet, but still, pretty good.

It should work on the FM3 only.
Thanks! I'll give it a try. Will it also work when switching between FM3 Only and OMG9 when I connect my FC-6? All I do is change the default layout between layout 8 (when using FC-6) or layout 4 (when using FM3 by itself). I always keep bank size to 6. This is explained by @Patzag here, https://forum.fractalaudio.com/thre...-3-switches-by-themselves.161070/post-2030463

@Ledvedder The Layout I linked to was the SONGS SETLISTS Layout only, and not all Layouts for the FM3. You can import this to just a single Layout slot and have a play with it. You can kinda see the gist of it here:

On the FM3 only, I use my View Change footswitch to rotate through four Views. Views 1 and 2 are Sections 1 2 3, then Sections 4 5 6. View 3 is Set Inc, Set Dec and Tuner. View 4 is Song Selection.

All Views have View -1 and View +1 on the Hold function, so this should definitely work on the FM3 only, with the middle switch hold getting you back to the Master Layout. If running with the FC6, I would re-orded the switch definitions - perhaps with Songs on the FM3 itself, and the 6 x Sections on the FC6. You'd have to put the Set Inc and Dec onto Hold functions somewhere, unless you want to do a View change to get to this.

The only thing that doesnt work the way I want (yet) is the Song selection. The Layout uses the left and right switches on the FM3 to scroll up and down through songs in a set (well, scroll left and right!). I can get the scrolling to work, and it is very cool to see sequential songs in the set sliding side to side. My goal is that the centre switch in the Songs View page has a Layout link that goes straight to the Sections in that song. I can get the FM3 to look like this:

But I can't get it to work perfectly like this via a Layout Link because at the moment, there isn't an applicable function that will do what I want for the Centre switch. If trying this out, please note that the Layout Link for the centre switch does work (as in, it will take you to the Song Sections), but it won't take you to the song shown on the centre mini display (it will be +1 in the Set). The work around is to have the Song you want in the right mini display, and then hit the middle switch. I've raised this with Fractal and they seem receptive to a way of making this work. Now just waiting for it to be implemented!

From what I've been able to figure out, it seems like the OMG9 layouts use up all 8 layouts, when needing the ability to use the FM3 with an FC6 or just the FM3.

So, I'm not sure where I could import the Songs Setlist layout that you've designed.

Check out the below from my DM5 Custom Layouts:

You can import and export all Layouts, and you can import and export individual Layouts. The Songs and Setlist Layout I shared is an individual Layout (only one, not eight).

You'll have to pick a Layout slot that you don't want to keep. For example, I never use the Looper, and I don't really use Channels. I'm happy to give up those Layout slots in order to experiment with Songs and Setlists. If I recall correctly, before I started creating these Layouts, slot 8 was empty. I used that as a holding slot (so I copied FX there, to clear out another slot which I used for Control and Utilities), and then I shuffled the remaining Layouts order around to get to the specifics ones I want in as few short presses as possible.

To an extent, a Layout is a Layout, is a Layout ... it is just a question of how many footswitch definitions you can "see" at any one time (eg 3 definitions on the FM3 only, and 9 on the OMG9), and how you get to the definitions (eg a stand in switch or long press to change Views on the FM3 only, and - well, no real need on the OMG9, as you can see 9 definitions at a glance). Of course, noted that you can optimise the functionality as a whole depending on how you connect up the FM3. It would be great to have multiple (ideally user save-able) sets of Layouts stored on the FM3. As it stands right now, there is only the Factory Layouts and the OMG9 that can be stored and recalled on the unit itself.

Back up first! That way you can always roll back ...
