I always preferred the sound of a 57 off axis to straight on. Maybe there could be a dyn-cabs option with the off axis instead of straight 57?
Similar, but not really. Off-axis is just another way to move the mic around— a way that we don’t have currently.Does moving the mic around get you something similar or not really?
Specifically, it is rotating the mic somewhat, so that you can use the mic's polar response as a filtering method. Mics quite often have different frequency response straght on than at an angle. Most good mics will have a polar response graph available somewhere, and, usually, the better/pricier it is, the less difficult it is to locate. Some even send you a graph of your particular instance, along with a sheet of other specs....Similar, but not really. Off-axis is just another way to move the mic around— a way that we don’t have currently.
