Not much love for bass regarding amps and effects?

Good question - I have no idea what the technical reason is, but the II just didn't cut it for me. I kept trying and trying (for years in fact) but was never able to get what I considered an exceptional bass sound. In contrast, with the III, I can drop a compressor block, amp, & cab, and have a usable sound almost immediately. There's just something 'fuller' about it. Very difficult to define.

Thanks

So what is the difference exactly between the II and III in regard to the usefulness for bass?

Ares was ported to II, but in direct comparison there is a noticeable difference. The cab block in III has much more features that has major impact on the sound. My main patch( 2 amps, 2 cabs, 1 drive and dynamics/modulation effects) in II consumed 91% of CPU, there was not enough power to play backgrounds through USB. With III that was extended to 6 cabs and looper and it takes 65% of CPU. When I tried to make direct copy of amp and cab from II to III, III sounds more meaty and full.
