Non-Focusrite Audio Interface Recommendation

I've had a Scarlett 6i6 for a couple years and we don't get along. I don't know if it's a bad unit, or I'm incompetent, but it will just stop working and require a power off/power on to resume operation.

I'm no audio engineer, so I need a fairly simple user interface for basic home recording - I'm not a fan of the 6i6 user interface. Must have SPDIF input, ideally not more than a few hundred bucks. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Why not an Mbox 2? The Original Digidesign? They shouldnt be too much and they are great.
