New User here, first question

Use Official Axedit legacy version that matches your operating system (see web page link below), and a suitable MIDI interface. I used to simply use Creative Soundblaster Live audio card on my old Windows XP machine with no problems (that is until the PC died), but now use M-Audio Midisport 2x2 Anniversary edition with my newer Windows 7 64bit PC.

^Yes. You can buy little $6 Chinese made MIDI-USB thingies on eBay. They are built like crap but they do work. The M-Audio Midisport 2x2 is the preferred choice because it's built well and it's one of the few options that provides channel merging - an option you'll HAVE to have if you ever get a foot controller and want to be able to have both it and your PC hooked to the Axe at the same time.

Axe-Edit 1.0 is the last version of the edit software that works with the Ultra. I have no idea why support was dropped after 1.0, but it's probably the same reason the Ultra/Standard was dropped like a f**kin' rock when the Axe-II came out.
