AFIII New Steve Vai - Vai/Gash Covers

I hear Alcatraz mixed with David Lee Roth mixed with Whitesnake. His singers voice reminds me a lot of Alcatraz.
I do too. I saw an interview with Vai, you probably already know this, but Gash was a good friend of Vai's who was a real wild child. Unfortunately he passed away years ago in an accident. Vai heard him sing a Sinatra cover and realized the guy had vocal chops. He wanted to make a quick straight up rock n roll album and threw Gash into the studio to lay down the vocal. He no real experience in the studio but apparently he had a blast. Vai has been sitting in this recording for decades. Anyway His vocals sound great and definitely remind me of a golden time in music. Everything was larger than life.

Yeah, I saw the same video. Sounded like Vai wanted to take on a simple project and the Vai/Gash recording sessions were on. Heard that Vai laid down all the instruments in about a week and then Gash came in and did the vocals in a fairly short time as well.
