New/Old Guitar Day

Traded an Takamine DMP551C WR acoustic for this Electra MPC X-120. Also had another module - Treble/Bass Expander.

Still in excellent condition. Believe the pickups are stock but will check later. Action and playability are very nice. Tone isn't too shabby either.

Sent email to Electra to check on serial number/year but no response. DSC00093.JPGDSC00094.JPGDSC00095.JPGDSC00096.JPG

I used to own an Electra MPC-Vulcan (X-940?). I had the Octave, Flanger, Expander, Overdrive, Phase Shifter, and Exciter modules. The Flanger and Octve modules were spectacular sounding, it's just setting the sound parameters on each module itself was a bit of a pain for me.

There may be someone on this forum that may be able to help date your guitar: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electraforum/.

Congrats, she's a beauty!

Thank for the info about the Electra forum. Now to find more modules.

Wow! So it came from the last century?

Yep, the 20th century. Sounds so long ago. For a guitar that is probably 39 years old--based on research--it is in great condition.

Dr Bonkers pointed me to the Electra forum. So going to post it there for possible confirmation.

Thanks for posting...I forgot about this guitar...had a friend with one from the same period with a ton of mother of pearl inlays in the day...I remember them being very well built!

From all the pictures I have seen so far of this model (Leslie West Signature) all guitars have the dots. It is built solid.

I looked through their site and around a bit, but have been unable to locate what I remember...darn now I have to figure this out. ;)

The used to be a lot of people selling the MPC modules separate from the guitars. Latest trend seems to be selling them with the guitars.

Good luck in your quest. If you need any help with determining if one is the real deal or a home brew version, please let me know. There were quite a few home brew modules of varying quality floating around the market a few years ago, but they seem to have disappeared.

This person seems to have in his posession some MPC modules and cannibalized his MPC. You may want to see if you can make a deal (no, I have no affiliation- I just have a warm nostalgic spot for my old Electra and that unique cartridge system they developed).:

Having trouble registering on the Electra site. Keep getting "The confirmation code you entered was incorrect" at the register page even though I haven't entered a confirmation code and there is no block to enter a confirmation code. Just user name and password. Can't even get access to contact an administrator. Might be the IP here in Okinawa. Will try the next link. The search continues.
