FM3 New EDM Song w/FM3

I like this tune!

I've also been on a musical trip lately where I've put guitars on EDM and synthpop style tunes. Lots of fun.

Cheers,

Mats N
Thank you, so glad you connect with it. Yeah right, I've always loved that EDM sound with electric guitar. Please reach out when you have some EDM/SynthPop stuff out, love to hear it.

Yep, hearing the JB and Jan Hammer thing. They all have such my era (70’s to 80’s fusion) feel to them, but with a unique (your own) modern vibe. Very cool!
Thank you! I haven't listened very much to either Jan Hammer or JB but somehow they have crept into my musical consciousness.
I first got to hear Jan Hammer by watching Miami Vice. :D

I was big fan since the Mahavishnu Orchestra days. For whatever reason I hear lots of my favorite players from the 70’s era in your playing. Santana to Steely Dan and so on. Probably mostly your high level musicality.

Both you and Chris have some great talent and production value. 👍

It's very interesting how I seem to wear my influences on my sleeve.
My first serious influence on guitar was in fact Santana and then I went on and have listened a lot to Larry Carlton, Robben Ford for the jazz/pop/ blues vibe and Mike Landau, Dann Huff and Steve Lukather for the pop/rock/fusionish stuff.

BTW, I really do appreciate your comment about my musicality. I'm surrounded by great players, composers and arrangers that I all too often feel very low. So thank you for that! It actually made my day.

Thanks, I hesitate sometimes saying when I hear the influences in other musicians playing because it’s not my intention to make less of anyone’s talent and them having their own voice. in the case of your influences it really makes me happy to hear that level and tasteful playing again. I guess mainly everyone you named were big influences on me and is what inspired me to play and keep playing.

Overall I’m super impressed with so many of the great players I have come to hear on the Forum. I check the
”Recording” section all the time. At my age I just really appreciate and get off on musicians who take their talent seriously no matter the style or ability. It all should remain a journey and not a destination.

It's always nice to find someone who understands not only the influences I have but also understand the times and society as it were at the time. As I've always been in surroundings where there were a lot of great musicians and sharp competition, I've never had the hope of being a pro musician. So I decided to be the guy bands and studios called if they:
1. Wanted to make sure to get a guy who was always on time
2. Wanted someone who always had the gear fully functioning
3. Wanted someone who could play at a low volume
4. Someone who knew his equipment in and out and could get basically any guitar sound they wanted.

This landed me some studio gigs which I enjoyed immensely, but not enough to earn a living.
I wanted to record more so I built a modest home studio and learned everything there was to know about this new invention called MIDI.
The upside was that I got a good reputation in the musical instrument business and ended up being a product specialist for distributors of instruments. So I've been in and out of studios and one tours setting up equipment, traveling to corporations all over the world to help design, voice and beta test products. Which in turn led to me hearing a lot of great music and meeting some of my guitar heros. I also got to meet a lot of MI business people who I'm happy to call friends to this day.

So for me it has always been about the journey as I've never seen a possible destination. Now closing in on retirement I do some freelance teaching and enjoy helping young people get into music and expose them to some great players.

Cheers,

Mats N

I always enjoy jamming to some EDM, techno stuff but dont know many good artists or songs, since not all of it is good jam material. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I'm not well acquainted with the genre, but if you would like to jam to one of my tracks, send me a PM with an email address and I will send the tune as a backing track.
Being a guitar teacher, I render all my tunes as backing tracks also, so I can use them in my classes. I've now produced over 200 tunes.

Thank you again for the kind words my friend. It's great meeting and interacting with other kindred, creative spirits here utilizing the excellent Fractal tools.

This sounds amazing.Did you use fm3 with your guitar for the synth sounds in the intro or is it from a different source?
Thanks so much. The intro are software synths then the FM3/Euro FP guitar melodies with my Anderson guitar (video picture).
