New BOSS SY-1000. The Hex-pickup is not dead. Long live the 13-pin plug!

Does the SY-1000 updater icon originate from the SY-1000 itself, when I put it into update mode?

I did everything as directed in the instructions, and I got the SY-1000 in update mode, but there is no "SY-1000" update icon showing up on my iMAC running with Ventura 13.0 .

There is no update file labeled as such "SY-1000_UPA_up.bin" as stated in those instructions.

The update 'zip' file has files labeled with these variations:
BG745_C0A_up.bin
BG745_C0C_up.bin
BG745_C1A_up.bin
BG745_C1B_up.bin
BG745_C1D_up.bin

Which file is the right file to use (should I figure out how to get the SY-1000 update icon to show on my desktop)?

Even this convoluted mess is far simpler than the update process for the VG series. You had to make a dongle, transfer files blindly through five pin midi, and pray that you didn't brick your unit. Every 13-pin product they've released has had a major flaw. The VG-88 wouldn't work in reverse GK mode. The VG-99 lacked subsonic filtering. Roland's track record on updates is abysmal.

I found the issue.
The SY-1000 update icon is now there on my iMac.
I was unknowingly using a usb extension on my iMac that was a non-compliant version.
This discovery explains some other issues I've been having.

THANKS ALL FOR YOUR HELP! You guys rock!
