I personally found the effect not apparent enough for my taste.
Maybe because I'm monitoring with headphones?

Only when I'm playing myself thru my headphones. Comparing it to your clip , your clip as I said sounds convincing.
Maybe I need to use those IRs you are using?

The new IR's def helped as it kinda gave it a head start with the growl stuff. A lot of getting that sound really comes from your technique with the pedal. Getting used to using the 3 zones and picking the right vowel for each part.
