Need advice on second hand Fender Strat Plus -> Finally it is a Suhr

I think it might be a very nice find. I think the wiring is original. I have a Strat Ultra that I know is real, and the pickups are exactly the same on the back. It has the Wilkinson nut - another test of a Strat Plus or Ultra. It has the correct Sperzel tuners. Unless somebody went to an outrageous amount of effort to make that guitar look real, I am paying around $1500 to $1700 for Strat Ultras, that looks liek a reasonable Strat Plus. The pickguard does look too new, but are you buying this as a player or a collector? If as a player it doesnt matter. The bridge is correct.

I would buy it.

It's categorically not the original wiring. CRL switch, it should be Oak Grigsby, the wire is wrong, the cap is wrong the pots are newer than the guitar and so is the pick guard . It has a soldered earth connecting the pots. The pickups are original but. it's not the colour it says. All you can say about it is it is a player grade zero collectable beat up strat plus that is overpriced.

A new twist. I am not entirely satisfied with the Suhr because it has a dead spot, although I can cure it with the speaker driver, and I would also prefer a Floyd Rose.

Do you think it is worth to trade the Suhr Modern Satin Natural (mint condition) for a Tom Anderson Pro AM 1996 (worn out hardware, no dents)?

It is now available in my area, for $2,000

Normally I’d say to jump on a Tom Anderson, but something seems off with this particular one. If you look the serial number up in the Tom Anderson database, it’s clearly not the same guitar as the one in the pictures:

I have talked with the vendor. He did buy it as a Tom Anderson PRO AM 1996. He did show me the ad of the person to whom he bough it, and I found his Facebok page. That previous owner did buy it at a physical shop in Bangkok (he has a picture holding the guitar inside the shop where he bought it, and I spotted the logo of the shop).

I am curious to know the reply from Tom Anderson, to know if it is really fake or not.

In the meantime, here are more pictures. Can the experts determine if it is real or fake? 🧐 😀
