Need a little clarification on creaking a EQ Matched IR.

So I watch a handful of videos on how to create EQ matched IR's.

The one step not many seem to touch on is how they got the isolated guitar track they copied the EQ from.
I've done some searching online and have not found much of anything besides a site that sells them for 2.99+ each and some applications that are $200+.
Am I missing something are those really the only options other than trying to find a small section of a song that does not have anything but guitars in it?

the only method i've ever used is to find a guitar part by itself, even for a second or two. once i make the preset, i listen again in the mix and tweak a little more.
