Definately could work. Get power from the faslink too and your ready to go.

Goodluck on the project

Cheers 🍻

It is already working, zero cables outside this construction ;)
Power is taken from faslink this angled XLR plug, cables are routed under FM3. You may not see it very well, but the power and MIDI jacks on the controller are underneath. Therefore, no cables protrude beyond the controller and FM3.

(in the picture there is a MIDI socket on the side of the controller, but it is only for applications other than FM3; for FM3, the MIDI out socket from the controller and power in socekt are under the controller)

I actually just built an Arduino-based USB controller for my PC (5 switches), and was considering adding the possibility to control my FM3!

Any lead you can provide? Might be your schematic and code… or just some direction toward more information.
I don't now anything about MIDI control and how to do that with an Arduino tbh.
(At this point, I'm also considering going passive with a TRS cable and emulating a potentiometer with 5 values. But I would need to be able to control the scenes with an expression pedal on the FM3, and I'm not even sure it's possible.)

(Here's a picture of the current prototype… I want to be sure about its I/O before giving it a more solid shell.)

It is difficult for me to send you any hints, because I do not have a schemat (it was too simple for me, so I did not draw it), and most of the hints for Ardurino I took from the Internet - but almost in my language (polish).

You will definitely need this (libraries for creating MIDI messages):
https://github.com/FortySevenEffects/arduino_midi_library/tree/master/src

schemat, how to sign the MIDI output socket:
http://sandsoftwaresound.net/5-pin-midi-interface-arduino/

LED diodes (already in polish, you will definitely find a lot of pages in English, google "LED and Ardurion scheme"):

button assignments:

and me Ardurion board:

Well, that's already a lot. I'll probably find my way with that.
Also, that's good news: a ProMicro is what I'm already using! :D

Very cool
Where did you get your enclosure ?
I did not find such enclosure in my search

Hello
Enclosure prepared me friend with special tools for metal. If you wan, I can give you contact to him directly
