My 2025/2026 Touring Patch

Burgs

Power User
Requires FW 10.00 or later.

Written for myself for the upcoming summer (in Australia) touring season which begins today and doesn't stop until the end of March '26.

This patch gives me eight different amp types to choose from ranging from clean ODS through to Supro, Marshall and SLO100 (for solos). The Marshalls are favoured because they clean up so well with the Strat's volume knob. There's a clean Rockman-style Scene as well (thanks, Leon!) to cover the '80s cleans that I have to play. Each amp has an appropriate drive/boost ready to go (usually an 808) and there's delay, reverb, rotary and chorus on tap too. Voiced with a HSS Strat.

"Heel Down" is in the preset name to remind my tech to keep the heel down so the wah's not engaged when I walk out on stage. Rock on.

Haha.. sounds like you’ve had a few first song moments….”why does my guitar sound like that?? Ohhhhh”.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm excited to load this up later this afternoon, thanks!!! Are you currently the sole guitar in the band, or multiple?

Thanks for sharing Brett. You make quality, fun presets. Your latest creation is very useable and well thought out. Enjoy the tour.

You using that Rockman clean with James at all? I would LOVE to hear that live if so!
Yeah, I do the Hammerhead and Motors Too Fast intro with that one. I put the Tube Pre in to fatten it up a tad. We're all over the country this year. PLEASE yell if you want to come and hang out.

I'm 1,000,000% not complaining, just trying to understand...

Through my EV PXMs with my Collings (PAF-like), the Supro scene sounds great, wonderfully compressed in a really natural way, but the driven sounds have way too much high end.

Anyone else hearing that?

Output eq is flat.
Wah is off :)
Any idea what's going on?

That's interesting. The Supro is a fairly mid-rich affair, absolutely. Driven sounds are 808-to-SLP mostly, and I know the plexi has plenty of snarl, something that helps it poke through on stage. The Soldano's treble and presence are up pretty high, again, to help cut through on stage (which it does). I used CLR's and Fender FR12's to voice this one, so there may be some disparity between my speakers and yours, but if there's way too much high end*, I'll have to investigate.

*Also, I'm 62 and have been playing in bands since I was 13-14 so I'm probably certifiably deaf. 😅😬🧏🏻

Thanks for checking, but I literally * always * think you sound really really great in your videos, so it's probably not you or the presets, more likely something on my end.

And I'm 73, in bands since i was 12 ish, and I'm pretty sure my two ears are different, so ditto on the deaf thing, maybe. I probably should get that checked.

I do find lots of other people's presets trebly, so maybe it is my hearing. That's part of why i posted about this, to check w the community.

But nobody's hiring me to mix their album, and it seems like it'd just make my hearing worse to ignore what sounds trebly to me, so i think i have to just go with what i hear.

Tricky biz.

I've usually found Burgs' presets to have too much high end for my taste, too. This one...I think I'd roll things off a bit on the JCM800 scene, and maybe the Plexi scene, but overall I found the tones pretty balanced, and likely to cut well through a mix. Maybe better to give the sound man more and have him shelve EQ as needed than to have him try to add? I supposedly have good hearing for my age: up to 15kHz tested.

Most importantly, thank you for the preset! Always great to hear what tasty players are doing.

I love the tones you get with the Fractal gear! Would it be possible to get this split into 2 separate presets for a lowly FM3 user such as myself? 🤣

If not, not worries.
