Most desired tones that you don't already have?

* Dean DeLeo’s Demeter-Vox mix

* Cave In’s Sunn Model T tones

* Pat Metheny’s “So we may secretly begin”

* Blake Mills’ Filmosound projector amp

* Eugene’s bass tones from Autolux

* Michael Gurley’s DADA clean tone

* The modulated clean tones on Failure’s “Heavy and Blind”

* Ty Tabor early Kings X

* Andrew Trube from Greyhounds

I’ve gotten ballpark, if not extremely close with most of these tones, some just seem to miss that extra tweak that put it over the top.

I’d love to hear some Iommi (LOVE his tone but can’t seem to recreate an exact Iommi sound)

Same thing with Angus and Malcolm... I get close, but then it’s just not right.

Same thing with Billy Duffy (Firewoman in particular)...

Thanks for the effort!!!

There's no Laney Supergroup 100 but I looked up the circuit board and some info on the amp and it's very SuperLead-esque... I think what I've dialed up is a good representation of Tony's tones around Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973-74 ish). Will share soon...

Nuno... Cool... I love Get the Funk Out... I've read Nuno was using ADA MP1's for a while... Leon Todd put together an awesome tone match I believe. I know Nuno LOVES his old original ProCo Rat. I'll work on it. Thanks for the Nuno cabs!

I'll get a couple of different Lifeson ones... most recently I was getting the flanger dialed in for Spirit of the Radio!!! Sounds good.

And Scorpions... For sure... Michael Schenker and Rudolf's tones are fairly similar in many ways.

OP has gotten quite shy since starting this thread :cool:

Mate, no offense but it's free stuff I'm willing to share and I've got other life stuff I'm working on. I didn't give a deadline... Will share some of these soon. Please be patient with me :)

Can’t wait to hear and try all these tones out (especially that early Iommi magic). Thanks for sharing these (soon)🤘

Here's my Tony Iommi patch... Hope ya dig. Will be sharing more soon :)

Oh, I dig for sure👍 It came through real nice into the FM3... Sounds awesome! I added a little proximity into the cab block to wake up the speakers a bit to my ears and have been jamming on Hand of Doom and War Pigs for a while and loving it. Playing it through 2 Friedman AS12s. Looking forward to getting it really loud later on 🤘
Thanks again! This is a really great share!

I’m super glad that it’s sounding good for you!!! You are welcome!!! 🤘😊

Obviously I am looking for Frank Zappa Tones:
1. Clean (Any kind of pain, guitar solo starts at 2:30)

2. Dirty with Faser ( Yo Mama, guitar solo starts at 2:00)

3. Cocked Wah (Po yama people, guitar solo starts at 2:23)

For the Clean Tone a Strat with Neck and Middle Pickup position seems to be the starting point. For Yo Mama I think he used a Gibson Guitar. For the Cocked Wah tone I have helped myself with a great preset by Burgs which is called Boston Calling where the Cocked Wah Effect comes from the right EQ settings which seems to be a great way to reach that sound.

At this point, I just need more variation in guitars. I'm not too worried about not being able to get the tones out of the AxeFX, I'm just not going to make an Ibanez JEM sound like a Tele or a Les Paul, or anything with PAFs.

The only thing I can't seem to dial in is Dimebag's thick chorus modulated lead tone. Whatever witchcraft settings he used with his gear is hard to replicate. No problem getting anything else though!

Nuno's tones on Pornograffitti are some of my fav of that era...but the iso'd tracks made me realize it was the mix that was killer, not that tone.

That is very true. I'm ALWAYS surprised when I hear isolated tracks how they don't sound ... that great. It is how they mix.

I wonder if there is something there. Often we are attempting to tone match, or IR a cab.

But it seems there needs to be a "mix IR" or something.

I posed the NB412 cab ir's in this thread

he really did not use much. rack mount wah now I did figure this out. I'm not much of a digitech person but one of the tone matches I got for the song floods was with the Digitech Luxe pedal with the first knob turned at 12 o clock and the 2nd knob turned all the way to just above the plus symbal.
I'm mainly referring to the effects side of things. The crazy eq is easier to dial in, but getting that super thick n wet lead tone is tough to nail

I am having trouble dialing in three Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) I need.

Clean
Light Breakup up with modulation/chorusing
Crunch

Would you be looking for something closer to the tone on a specific album (eg. Core = Demeter Preamp, Tiny Music = small Supros) or closer to his live rig with the Demeter and an AC30 blended?
