Mono or Stereo for recording

Hey everyone,

I'm no pro at recording, but i had a question regarding mono or stereo inputs. For tracking a clean+chorus+delay underling part (that would be hard to duplicate twice) would you suggest tracking it stereo, or mono? Just wondering because normal rhythm tracks i track twice and pan L,R 100% each. Just wondering the best way to track and then pan? Would it be best to track it in mono then set up a couple of busses that are panned maybe 80% L, R? Thanks in advance for any input that can be offered regarding this.
 
As I discovered today, there is no substitute for a nice solid stereo output for the axe to feed into. Effects sound so much deeper and if you use a 2 amp setup, it's absolutely necissary.
