Bug? Modulation effect on palm mutes and decay

Inspired
on dweezls b man I noticed some modulation sounds going on in the distortion
And on the herbie channel 3
It seems to happen more on palm mutes and sounds kind of like a gate closing

how is your gate set? if you turn off the gate, does the problem go away?
