MIDI keyboard -> synth block?

I'm interested in a Studiologic MP-113 for selecting bass drones with my foot while I play guitar over it. Will the synth block support a MIDI keyboard? Will the MFC-101's MIDI ports accept a keyboard? I won't have the Axe plugged into a PC.

No. It will either follow an incoming audio signal or generate specific pitches.

Those specific pitches cannot be attached to a modifier of some kind?

I've never tried it, but it might be possible to get something working with a midi to CV adapter.

I think that using CV would be challenging.
Instead, I'd connect the controller to your phone and run a synth app, or get any cheap used synth.

I'd much prefer not to rely on general purpose OSes like what runs on phones or PCs because they're more prone to failure.

Maybe I should buy a Hammond XPK-130G, then, as it has built-in sounds.
